Oberaudorf, Kufstein, Schaftenau, St. Jodok, Campo di Trens Freienfeld

Day 7: From Rosenheim to Bolzano

I'm on my way to Austria and Italy, here traveling on the Rosenheim-Kufstein railway

I've now reached Brenner railway - here I am at Steinach in Tirol

"500th loco from Siemens to ÖBB"

The train I saw earlier in Kufstein

St. Jodok

The maximum grade on the track is 31 per thousand. The minimum curve radius is 264 metres. The highest point of the track is Brenner station at 1,371 metres, which is also the highest point reached on the standard gauge networks of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and the Italian Ferrovie dello Stato (FS) networks.

To overcome the steep climb (796 metres between Innsbruck and Brenner) two spiral tunnels were built, using the sides of a valley at St. Jodok on the Austrian side and the sides of the Pflerschtal (German for "Pflersch Valley") on the Italian side. (Wikipedia)

At Vipiteno Val di Vizze I can spot an interesting train
I think that this train is usually taking the route through Tarvisio Boscoverde, but there it is closed during July, so the trains are re-routed through Brennero or Slovenia

These Traxx DC3 are only made for operations in Italy
