Degerfors to Göteborg with Tågab, Varberg

This weekend I will be travelling from Degerfors to Göteborg with Tågab and later to Varberg with Öresundståget.
First, I am visiting Anundshögen - which is a tumulus located near Västerås.

From Wikipedia: "At the foot of the mound are 2 large stone ships placed end to end, 51 metres and 54 metres long. The site was a thing-place and the ship settings may be associated with this function"
E18 can be seen from Anundshög

Nearby is the construction of the new Russian Ortodox church

Walking to Varberg fortress

Beach season is already here

From Wikipedia: "Varberg Fortress was built in 1287-1300 by Count Jacob Nielsen as protection against Eric VI of Denmark, who had declared him an outlaw after the murder of his father King Eric V of Denmark. Jacob had close connections with King Eric II of Norway and as a result got substantial Norwegian assistance with the construction. The fortress, as well as half the county, became Norwegian in 1305."

X55 on the single track part of Västkustbanan
This part is a bottleneck of the otherwise modern and fast railway between Göteborg and Malmö. It is decided that a new tunnel will be built in Varberg replacing this single track part, more info here.
