Today is the start of my 1 week long trip to north of Sweden by car. I will visit places I have visited before and also places that i haven't visited.
First, a long trip from Stockholm to Umeå.On my way I'm making a stop at Höga kusten, and Skuleberget mountain, 295m above sea level.
There is a ski lift to reach the top.
During the ice age, the sea level was reaching 285m here
Passing by Örnsköldsvik
Another stop is in Nordmaling
X62 train from Umeå to Sundsvall
457m long platform for the night trains
The station opened in 2010 together with the new Botniabanan railway
Botniabanan is equipped with ERTMS
"Inflyttande fågelfamilj" is an art installation with 10 birds spread around the station, created by Linda and Mattias Baudin
I have reached Umeå, where on this day is an event with old American cars - Wheels Nationals Norr
The cars are driving back and forth, polluting the fresh air :-)
The old city hall in Umeå and the statue of Gustav II Adolf, founder of the town in 1621 (same year as Sundsvall).
Square outside the train station
Railway station is from 1896, designed by Folke Zettervall
The old bridge, which was also the first to be built here. It opened 1863
Today it is used for pedestrians and bicycles
Ume river
Stadskyrkan
Årstidernas park (The park of the seasons)
Kyrkbron
Academy of Fine Arts in Umeå
