Today I'm traveling around Porto - the second largest city in Portugal
View from the rooftop of my hotel
Apparently, it is said that there should be an outdoor swimming pool; let's see
This is it
No, I won't spend the day in the outdoor swimming pool; instead, I'll check out the railway next to the Atlantic Ocean.
Linha do Norte and the Valadares station
Just as I arrived at the station, there was an InterRegional train passing by
This was InterRegional from Figueira da Foz to Valença, with CP Class 2600 - and it was a bit unfortunate as you don't see them so often. However, later today, I will be able to see this locomotive again
5621 "Inês"
CP Class 3400 "Viriatus"
Nearby there is the airport of Porto.
Intercity train
Ryanair
Easyjet
Swiss
A freight train is approaching
0335 038, Euro 4000 from Ibercargo Rail SA that I saw yesterday
This locomotive is leased from Alpha Rail
Lufthansa from Munich
Another Euro4000
This is 143 6006 from Captrain
In 2022 Captrain acquired Portuguese operator Takargo - which was the second-largest freight operator in Portugal after Medway
Now Captrain Portugal has 7 locomotives of this type 6001-6007 intended for cross-border operations to Spain
A330 from Sao Paolo is arriving in Porto
Miramar
Looks like there is rail work here, new rails, and the trains are using slow-speed
4703
CP Class 0450, built in 1960s and modernized in 1999
Not sure what it is doing here, as it usually operates in the south on the Algarve line
Alfa Pendular train with the livery commemorating the 25th of April 1974
The Carnation Revolution, also known as the 25 April, was a military coup by military officers that overthrew the authoritarian Estado Novo government on 25 April 1974 in Lisbon and produced significant social, economic, territorial, demographic, and political changes in Portugal and its overseas colonies through the Processo Revolucionário Em Curso. It resulted in the Portuguese transition to democracy and the end of the Portuguese Colonial War. (Wikipedia)
4701 and 4714
335 001, Captrain
The locomotive is a former CRT - COMSA Rail Transport S.A. Comsa was purchased by Captrain in 2018
So, what about the beach? Just 200m away from the station it is possible to reach the Atlantic Ocean
Yellow flag today
Praia de Mar e Sol
Porto is not far away
Many photos were taken today, so I have to split this post into two parts - to be continued
