Maizières-lès-Metz, Courcelles-sur-Nied, Peltre, Novéant-sur-Moselle, Conflans-Jarny, Pétange, Noertzange, Thionville

I will stay one more day in the Lorrain/Luxembourg area, as there are many railways to explore here
France is not an easy country for trainspotting, so I have to make the most of being in this area

In the morning, I'm still in Maizières-lès-Metz

Lorry Rail, a subsidiary of SNCF group, CFL, and Lohr industries, was launched in 2019 with the operation of the line connecting the Barcelona Can Tunis and Bettembourg (Luxembourg) intermodal terminals. It is the 5th rail motorway VIIA Lorry Rail, which operates to transport unaccompanied semi-trailers. The line’s operation is a collaborative effort. VIIA Lorry Rail relies on the Alonso Group’s multimodal terminal facilities. The terminal in Bettembourg is operated by the CFL Group, a long-term partner on the group’s other rail motorway lines. The trains are driven by Fret SNCF in France and Renfe for the Spanish section. (www.fedil.lu)

At Remilly, there is a railway junction - one coming from Strasbourg, the other from Stiring-Wendel (near the German border close to Saarbrücken)

Diesel Alstom SNCF Class X73900 is the only one operating cross-border traffic to Germany. Coradia Polyvalent hybrid trains are already built, but due to a dispute between French and German regions, no operator can run them.

The station is large with 4 tracks, but there are no trains here right now
Many railway here as I said earlier
This is one of the bridges connecting the Lerouville with Longuyon

Conflans-Jarny station

Looks like there are freight trains here as well

But this one is parked here

I'm going back to Longuyon
There are trains parked here as well; here is a 1333 from Thionville
And a 1345 coming from Belgium

From Longuyon, in the east direction, there are railways to Conflans-Jarny and to Thionville.

The line between Thionville and Luxembourg is closed, but from Thionville to Metz it is open, but you have to run
Between Thionville and Luxembourg there are replacement busses
